One of the many ways we care for your trees is through deep root fertilization and deep root watering.

Deep Root Fertilization

Many people stop fertilizing their trees after they’ve grown to a certain size, but every tree can benefit greatly from deep root fertilization. Fertilizing your trees will increase vigor and make the trees more resistant to disease and drought stress. In the spring, Alpine Tree Service, LLC uses a slow release fertilizer which provides the tree with a steady dose of nutrients throughout the growing season. We recommend fertilization again in the fall to stimulate root growth and provide the tree with nutrients to help it weather western Colorado’s dry winters.

Deep Root Watering

If the summer is exceptionally hot and dry, Alpine Tree Service, LLC recommends deep root watering. Trees need an inch of water a week in spring, summer and fall, but here in Western Colorado, we can go weeks on end without a drop of rain. Signs of drought stress include shriveled, curling leaves, roots that grow along the surface of the ground, and insect infestation. If a tree does not have adequate water, it becomes susceptible to disease. Trees need adequate water for photosynthesis, growth and to fight off insects and disease.
